Biography
Professor Shihe Yang is currently Professor in the Department of Chemistry. Professor Yang got his B.Sc. in Chemistry (Polymer Chemistry) from Yat-Sen Sun University, China in 1982 and Ph.D. in Chemistry (Physical Chemistry) from Rice University, USA in 1988. Professor Yang is an expert in chemistry of finite systems, nanomaterials, and energy conversion. He and co-workers contributed significantly to the understanding and development of cluster science, fullerenes/metallofullerenes, novel nanomaterials chemistry, new generation solar cells, and other energy conversion devices. He is an author/co-author of over 380 international journal papers with more than 11,000 citations and an h-index of 52 (Web of Science). Prof Yang’s scientific research has been recognized by a number of awards, including China's State Natural Science award , the Overseas Distinguished Young Scholars Award (NSFC), and the Yangtze River Chair Professorship. Prof. Yang is an editorial board member of several international journals, including Sustainable Energy (Hans Publishers), International Journal of Nanotechnology (Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.), Frontiers of Optoelectronics (Energy Photonics) (Springer).
